Bob Iger's presentation to Disney shareholders today was livestreamed, and a lot more exciting than your average shareholders meeting. Iger took the stage at Disney's Buena Vista HQ to announce the details of their long-awaited upcoming streaming service, Disney Plus. From the date, to the astonishingly low price, to programming and even a look at the interface. I took a lot of notes, and have followed the coverage, and I've got the details on this huge new multimedia platform on tonight's episode of The Matt Sager Podcast!Read More
Disney continues to grow, changing the media landscape dramatically with today’s acquisition of Fox. For comics and movie fans, this is great news because the X-Men and Fantastic Four will be in far better hands, and a fully cohesive Marvel Cinematic Universe is in our future.
For the world, mergers like this do tend to have some nasty blowback. Expect layoffs and other, unpredictable, side effects from this colossal merger, which enlarges Disney but shrinks the already dwindling set of corporate conglomerates that control all media in the U.S. and worldwide.
