I’m heading out to go experience Avengers: Endgame, all 3 hours and 1 minute of the movie that currently has the highest Rotten Tomatoes score of any Marvel movie to date. And I haven’t read any of the guides as to when it’s safe to go to the bathroom, for fear of spoilers, but if you want to go in prepared, I certainly don’t blame you. Just do a Google search for “Avengers Endgame Bathroom Breaks,” there are tons of guides available, but be careful because they all give out some plot points, which is why I didn’t read them. No spoilers!Read More
I'm back! After a week-long sinus infection, I'm so happy to be back with you, and I'm thinking about how best to wrap up 2018. I think I'll do some best and worst-of lists, for movies, music, books, games and more. I'd love your input on both which lists to compile, as well as what your votes would be for each category.
So get in touch with your suggestions - email email@example.com, call (646) 535-4788, or listen to the end of tonight's episode for other ways you can get in touch with me.Read More
New rule: fading, irrelevant comedians need to stop mocking a man's death to draw attention to themselves. And when they defend their hateful rhetoric, they need to stop pretending that they're making a point about society, and admit that they are making a broad statement about an art form that they know nothing about, that they don't even try to understand, and that of course they're cowards and bullies. How else would anyone describe Bill Maher's disgusting mockery of Stan Lee's death, his intellectually pathetic thesis that admiring Stan led to the election of Trump, and his proud display of ignorance on Larry King Now?
It's definitely unfunny, which is par for the course where Maher is concerned - it's also incredibly stupid, and shows a startling lack of empathy that indicates the aging talk show host as a serious personality disorder, or maybe autism or some form of psychosis. Whatever the case, I'm done with him. I hope he shuts up about Stan Lee, so that I don't have to give him any further attention. What a buffoon.
And on a lighter note - Happy Thanksgiving!Read More
Don't point that finger at me, Bill Maher - if it's anything like your head, it's been deeply up your ass. Maher, bitter and ignorant, decided to pen a blog post on Saturday linking the mourning of Stan Lee to the election of Donald Trump.
It is intellectually lazy, conceptually stupid, and morally hateful. Bill, step into my office. We need to have a chat, especially since you're not much younger than Stan - yet far less popular and less intellectually curious, and more mean. How do you think you'll be remembered, Bill?Read More
Mike Francesa made a spectacular ass of himself when a caller asked him about how he felt regarding the passing of Stan Lee. Because Mike isn't a comics fan, the passing of a pop culture giant, the creator of our modern mythology, means absolutely nothing to the somnambulist sportscaster: https://youtu.be/3GLrKjmi22w
I, however, am still processing it, and take heart and inspiration from the information that Tom King has been stealthily paying tribute to Stan for years in the pages of DC Comics, and his telling of Stan's charming response to this tribute. I'm also quite moved, as I'm sure you will be too, by the sort of "lifetime accomplishments summary" he gave to the New York Times in 2015, which they've released in the wake of his passing: https://youtu.be/nQGKjlTbIWgRead More
Tonight's show is dedicated to our veterans, and one vet in particular, Stan Lee. The legendary creator passed away today at the age of 95, having accomplished so much good in this world that it's amazing, spectacular and uncanny. Between the loss of this giant and the ongoing inferno in Southern California, my heart is sort of broken tonight. Let's commiserate, celebrate love and hope, and the promise of better days.Read More
